Should root CatchBoundary catch errors thrown in root LoaderFunction?

I have a LoaderFunction in Root.tsx, that makes an async call that could fail. When it fails I throw a Response with my error message.

I am expecting this to be caught by the CatchBoundary in Root.tsx but that does not seem to be the case. Is this the right thing to expect?

Or should we be approaching error handling in the root loader differently?
