CSS Bundle returning an undefined value for URL

I am using remix from the shopify hydrogen install and on version 2.1.0 for both remix-run/react and remix-run/css-bundle. I have a component (not under a route directory) both trying to import a module css file and the swiper js side effect css like this:

import styles from './styles.module.css';
import 'swiper/css';

Not sure what else to try since the only mention of a fix is ensuring exact version matches of both libs. Thanks!
