*.client.tsx error when importing with VITE Element type is invalid

I have vite with express server like described in docs.
I get this error when I import a file that has .client extension on it
Error: Element type is invalid: expected a string (for built-in components) or a class/function (for composite components) but got: undefined. You likely forgot to export your component from the file it's defined in, or you might have mixed up default and named imports.

If I add the imported component from .client live reload renders it but when I refresh it breaks
