Can't get Videoland to work

Describe the bug

Probably something on my end, since I can't find anyone else with similar problems and I've been trying this for weeks, intermittently. I attached my kodi.log and retrospect.log. A problem with Python, I think? I'm running Arch Linux, Python version 3.13.3-1.

Please let me know what other information you need from me. I've double-checked my login credentials.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Open Retrospect
2. Try to open the Videoland channel
3. It says "Retrospect error" and then to check the log.

Your Python version is too high. Python 3.13 it's not compatible with Kodi. You will have to downgrade to a lower version. It has to do with how Python 3.13 handles imports:

ImportError: PyO3 modules compiled for CPython 3.8 or older may only be initialized once per interpreter process

I read here its not recommended to downgrade Python, everything will break....(seems bad). I use Debian 13 with the kodi by Debian version and everything seems to work great (except Videoland).

So, what do you think? Just downgrade python anyway? and what is the newest version that will work?? Is that 3.12?

Then I would not do that. The problem is that I cannot reproduce this myself, so debugging is difficult. But let my try some stuff.

In the gigyhandler.py for Retrospect please change:

Oke, ik heb het volgende gedaan. Git checkout van je repo, die file (gigyaihandler.py) aanpassen, de boel zippen en dan installeren in Kodi (install van zip). Geen idee of dat de juiste manier is. Logfiles had ik ook nog nooit eerder gezien, maar dit is wat in home/.kodi/kodi.log staat.

Ps: je kan het niet reproduceren? gebruik je geen linux? Debian 13 Trixie is echt snel en mooi. Heb dat net ook pas geinstalleerd en alles werkt veel sneller dan in Windows. Gratis is echte een goeie prijs voor een OS trouwens :). Echt een aanrader!

Nope, enkel Linux servers hier. Geen desktops. Retrospect pakt nu de juist packages, maar nu gaat het daar fout in. Ik ga even navragen de andere Kodi devs.

Ik heb van die goedkope mini-pctjes bij mijn TV en die van de kids. Maarja dat is Windows 10 dus dat is niet lang meer goed (tot oktober geloof ik). Nu Debian 13 (trixie) met KDE en wayland werkt nu echt super goed hoor. Echt een aanrader. Als er nog iets is dat ik kan proberen hoor ik het graag.

Hallo allen,
Na een update van Widevine op mijn R-pi3 deed NPO Start het ook niet meer. Zelfs een compleet nieuwe installatie bracht geen uitkomst.
Echter, via de add on python inputstream helper een mogelijkheid gevonden.
Kies knop "debug" en ga naar "Install Widenine CDM from specific source.."
Kies knop "ja". Hierna start een download.
Na de download werkte alles weer op mijn R-pi3.
Ik ben geen expert, maar misschien werkt dit ook op andere platforms. Succes.

Hallo allen,
Tot mijn grote spijt geconstateerd dat er achter de schermen iets verandert is. Nu werkt NPO start PLUS niet meer en de ondertiteling van teletekst is ook uitgevallen. Hopelijk kan dit snel hersteld worden, wij maken hier veel gebruik van. NPO start (gewoon) werkt nog wel en terugkijken lukt ook.
