Old S21 port device: can it have too much power to "blow up" the faikin? #599
-
I installed 6 faikin devices (on the newer S21 ports), and they are working great. Now I was adding one to an older S21 device (2.5mm instead of 2.0mm), but as soon as I turned on the power on the unit, I saw (and smelled) a bit of smoke and it does not seem to respond. On the other units, I had no issues switching the cables if they were in the wrong order, so I am assuming it shouldn't "blow up" this easily? Do the old S21 ports behave differently power-wise? BTW model is FVXM25FV1B9 (assuming FVXMxxFV1B9) |

The Faikin can handle DC, and work from 4V up to 35V. Reversed, or higher that 35V, and yes it would fail. If you managed to put mains on it, it would fail. Be careful. Reverse polarity may well damage it as well. Sorry. |

Thanks for your reply. I did order 2 new ones (just to be sure 😄 ). Fully redid the wiring, and it was working. As a test, I did connect the old one which was being powered as well. Unfortunately the device showed "System is offline", which (I think) is caused by the fried data connector.
Anyway, the new one is working fine and all systems connected. Will add the device to the list of supported devices.
