Support on Daikin 2024 splits CTXM15A5V1B/FTXM42A5V18

Hi all,

To sum-up my situation, i've to replace a part of my installation from Daikin HVAC modules Perfera from 2019-2020 to Perfera 2024...
I have replaced the whole system by a new one and I discover that Daikin remove local feature to cloud one. Definitively not a good news before to find this project.

In parallel, i’ve another system (3 splits one) which continues to work on local, oura !

I kept my old BRP069B4x wifi modules on the first system and bought EKS21 cables… excepting to move to local API…
But… i’ve tried on two units… per example, on my CTXM15A5V1B i have a BRP069C4x with 1.31 firmware. I’ve tried to unplug it, and plug my old BRP B ersion with EKS21 cable on S21 port and…
I have no led on the card, even if i’m trying to follow the guide (5 sec on mode, etc).
I've tried to switch off the internal wifi card provided with the unit ; same think.

I've tried on another Perfera 2024 FTXM42A5V18, same issue. No led on it.

So i've decided to move on Faikin modules. A friend who has installed the Daikin system has give me EKRS21 cable.
I've identified the S21 port on the card. I've checked the 5V, the 15V and GND.
I have checked the power supply and 5V (brown and black) and 15V (brown and blue) are okay.
The question are TX/RX wires… lol.

I've plugged the faikin, the cable, trying to switch off/on the split, remove internal cloud wifi card, off on the AP with the remote etc...
No AP provided on my phone, my computer.
It seems that the faikin is not power on...

I don't know if it can help, the wiring architecture.

PS : Daikin wifi card is connected on S801.

Are you sure the EKS21 cable itself is working and seated properly in the s21 port?

When i've checked the voltage, it is on EKRS21 cable output, not on the board connector, too easy 👍
I've measured again all the voltage just in case with and without the faikin.

Seems to be not enough power, right... ?
Brown cable is the GND.

Without faikin module, at the end of the cable.
Blue 14.4V
Red 4.98V
Grey 4.97V
Black 4.97V

With faikin module, on the soldering pin, but on the back face (not the good picture just for illustrate).

Blue 6.82V - what a huge difference... power supply seems to have not enough current to drive...
Red 4.5V
Grey 4.97V
Black 4.97V

That is a big drop, but the Faikin should work down to 4V. But it is a sign maybe not enough current available.

Hang on, Black is GND, what are you measuring against?

I'm surprised to see that black wire is gnd.
Even if usually it is, if it is I will have negative voltages.
I will make the measurements without faikin to avoid any short circuit even if it is isolated.

Indeed, but yes, pin 5 is GND, not pin 1

i've tried to use black from reference.
in this case : 200mV, 20mV, 0 and -5V.
Voltmeter set in DC position, not AC of course.
This is why i took the brown as GND.

That makes no sense to me. Can you check colour on pin 1 at the other end?

Wire color is just a wire color... what is important is why signal is on it, right ?

They need to be one-to-one from S21 to Faikin, sorry. So yes, some change of the cable somehow.

Just to be sure. The cable is one by one between two plugs.

But as you ask, i need to invert like this :

• red will not change,
• black to brown
• blue to grey
  Right ?

That is NOT one to one, that is 1-5, 2-4, 3-3. Hold the connectors side by side the same way up and you see clearly it is not one-to-one. So, yes, they need reversing.

You may be able to lift tabs and extract crimps from the plug and then push back in the require hole, no wire cutting.

When i'm saying one to one, i say this for EKRS21, it is no inversion behind the black cable protection. I have removed it. Sorry for the missunderstand.

I have keep red to red (3 to 3) and inverted brown to black (1 to 5) and inverted blue to grey (2 to 4).

Despite that, faikin module will not blink and no AP on wifi.

Now it is inverted except pin3 on the faikin.

When S21 has the same pin order than previous.

I mean pin 1 to pin 1, pin 2 to pin 2, etc. That cable is not. My concern is negative voltage may have damaged it. Do you have another one?

OK, so it is like this.
1 to 1.

Black on S21 connector is the top ; it is on pin1 on faikin.
I've tried with another faikin module, no led, no ap too.

If i took black wire on picture, gnd, pin1 on faikin module as a reference.
grey : few mV.
red : few 100 mW.
blue and brown : negative close to 5V.

Pin 1 should be around 5V, but depends on daikin.
Pin 2 should be 12V ish (blue).

I am concerned your reversed wiring broke something somewhere, what are the voltages with no failing connected, where pin 5 on S21 is GND?

No, that is pin 1 with a triangle, GND is pin 5

OK. In my case, brown wire is on pin5. Without faikin.
Using pin5 as a GND :
pin1 : 5V (normally +5V)
pin2 : 5V (TX)
pin3 : 5V (RX)
pin4 : 0V... (if i've understood, normally it is 15V...).

OK, some progress. Now I do not know if your aircon normally as 14V or 12V or whatever on that pin or not. Most do, but not all.

So what you could try us powering the Fakin (it's pin 4) from the 5V supply on pin 1.

That may work.

I will verify on the other splits on the same generation ( 2 more).
I will order 3 more to replace BRP 2020 devices by faikin to be homogenous.
I will ask you before to mount to verify the cable order.

Last questions. I'm not using Home Assistant but Jeedom.
Can I stop MQTT home assistant sending and keeping the possibility to receive info and order the faikin ?

What are the order to pilot the faikin ?
It is not the same logic than Home Assistant.

I am concerned you had 15V and don't now, it may be the reversed wiring has caused an issue.

The issues are, AFAIK.

1. Usually Daikin have a nominal 12V power on pin 4, may be 13 or 14V, and enough current to run a wifi module.
2. Usually Daikin have a 5V "reference" on pin 1, which has not enough current to run a wifi module, but is useful for ensuring 5V working on serial.
3. Some units do not have the 12V, but have enough power (current) on the 5V to run a wifi module.

Basically if the 5V works, well done.

OK I thought this was all in the documentation honest. And of course, if HA is on, it sends config messages that tell HA what is needed for it all, that may be useful to look at.

I will installed the last one during the weekend for this group.
And I make an order for 3 more, i will open the module during the weekend to see the difference between 2020 and 2024 perfera.

When i read it :

• to make a power on/off - is it command/Faikin/power with true /false
  or /command/Faikin/on or off ?

• to change the mode is it /command/Faikin/heat etc or /command/Faikin/mode with string heat etc

The idea is to have command one by one (temperature, powerfull etc).
I don't find powerfull order in the table, how can I address it ?

Last point, i have a lot of 0 for temperature sent by the faikin.

What is Wh value ? Is it a 24h value, since the faikin is installed etc ? How can we reset it ?
I have not find it in the MQTT documentation (sorry !).

Just this point is missing. What are the energy sent by the unit ? Is it a total energy since the beginning ? Just of one split ? Not the total ?

Just another point, i have a lot of 0 for temperature values. I've blocked them to keep "constant" values.

For temperature, i'll confirm but i have 0 in the json.
I will not allowed this value in the json when i'll received it.

So, all 2024 perfera splits are equipped by faikin and working perfectly.
