I just stumbled across this while looking for ways to possibly adjust the defrost cycle on my Daikin air-conditioner (RXYMQ5BVM). I noticed this (#194) thread and wanted to ask something tangental to it
From what I can gather my Daikin doesn't have any smarts when it comes from its defrost cycles, it seems to happen regularly every 45m to 1 hour - this involves a horrendously loud dump of gas and the shut off of all internal fans while it does this, the main unit is quite near a bedroom outside so this would be extremely disruptive if left on overnight to heat.
I am in Melbourne Australia, so while we do get down to temperatures that we require heating, we don't get down to temperatures (or humidity) in winter where ice is likely to form on the condenser regularly enough to require a defrost cycle every 45 mins.
Could the Faikin be used to implement some kind of algorithm to modify when the defrost cycle actually kicks in?
I saw this: https://harizanov.com/2012/02/defrost/ and I am pretty handy with code and embedded systems - just not sure what is actually possible and what isn't?
