I'm also interested to know about the ducted system controls. In particular, can it control the dampers that are running through Daikin?

I was going to build a Faikin as a backup in case the Daikin BRP15B61 should die.

To be sure about the response above, if I use a Faikin interface will I loose the duct damper controls currently ?

The faikin doesn't replace any controls you have, they are supplementary. You still use your original controller and will still have duct control through that

Ok, not sure I worded the question very well. HA's own Daikin Integration through the OEM Daikin WiFi controller currently does control duct dampers through automatons, and I can also separately use the control panel duct buttons. Either or situation.
Question then is, does Faikin support duct control the same as the HA integration for the OEM wifi control currently does ?

No it has no duct control. It only controls the temperature, fan speed and on/off. That said, you still have control with your normal controller so all of that continues to work

I really just use mine for the extra sensors (can see the temperature sensors which my controller doesn't expose to home assistant) then my existing controller for literally everything else

OK, thanks for clearing that up. I'll hold on the build then as the duct automations are critical to my system efficiency.

We just need to know the commands, e.g. X50A or S21, do to them, and I'll be happy to implement.

Is that information already in the HA native Daikin AC integration code ?

From what I can tell from the diagrams in the installation manual, RZQ100 uses P1P2 to communicate with its wired remote, not S21 or X50A. It's not a protocol Faikin currently supports.
