Revolt currently lacks one crucial feature that Discord provides - the ability to mention and ping certain roles or groups using @everyone, @here, and other @ROLE mentions. This feature request aims to make these a clearly defined and high-priority aspect of Revolt's development roadmap.

The introduction of role-based and community notifications is of utmost importance for our platform. It's a significant part of fostering active, thriving communities. This functionality allows for easier and quicker communication, enabling group moderators and members to send messages to specific roles, everyone, or those present at a particular moment.

Why this feature is important:

• Promote Active Participation: By mentioning specific roles, community leaders can directly engage members, increasing interaction and participation in discussions. This feature is essential to prevent information from being lost in the constant stream of messages.

• Streamlined Communication: Not every message is meant for everyone. The ability to target messages to specific roles or groups helps to reduce information overload, maintaining a healthy and efficient communication environment.

• Immediate Information Dissemination: Critical announcements often require immediate attention. The ability to ping @everyone or @here helps ensure urgent messages reach the intended audience promptly, enhancing community responsiveness.

• Community Management: This feature is an indispensable tool for community managers to perform their role effectively. They can coordinate activities, make announcements, and moderate discussions more efficiently, leading to better managed and more engaging communities.

• User Convenience: These notification settings give members control over what types of pings they receive, helping to improve user satisfaction and maintain a user-friendly environment.

No need for the snark - we do intend to add these at some point, but they'll require quite a bit of thought in certain areas (e.g. efficiently sending notifications) and we have quite a bit of ongoing work in other areas

No snark intended (although it's a great Guitar Tuner brand 🎸🤣) but we hadn't seen any sort of acknowledgement or response about this.

Glad to see it's being thought of for future development, I understand there is a process of things that need to be completed first but finding the most efficient way to provide real value to Revolt Users should be the key focuses in my opinion. If this feature is something that would made the platform much more functional and valuable, then I think it should be treated with higher priority than some of the other tasks planned.

Of course, you all know the project best and I trust you all to make the decisions necessary to enable people to really use your platform. For now, I have to use Element/Matrix because of the lack of these features. Projects are also more likely to be able to contribute development work to Revolt if they see features they need being prioritized. These things should be considered as your project balances what to prioritize, in order to help the project grow faster and to make real progress.

My argument, I suppose, is that I think the feature is of high value and has a low barrier to implementation. I know a few others here agree with me but that's hardly a representative sample size of your users and the ones who DON'T interact with Revolt because of the lack of these features. For instance, my own project cannot use Revolt due to these issues. If it was more usable, we could even contribute development of new features in the future but for now we have to use Element/Matrix (which is useful but not convenient and limiting in various ways). Revolt may be a great option for this case, just not in it's current state.

Is there any update? I have a community server in Turkey, and we recently decided to switch to Revolt. One of the most important features, @everyone, is not available in the application.

I live in Turkey, and Discord has been blocked by our government (like in Russia). My community and I tried switching to Slack, but it's quite a money-hungry app, charging for even the simplest features, which really bothered us. Because of these reasons, Revolt seems very ideal. I can truly see its potential if it gets a bit more developed. However, it should be able to make small updates like this, and additionally, it would be great if it were available on the App Store.
