Hi, we have no issues storing everyone's profile picture and banner ourselves. The impact is on file storage is negligible. Additionally, not depending on any external services for user identity, even optionally, is our preference at the moment. This may however be considered again in the future if we choose to implement related feature sets. Thanks! |

We have no plans to use Gravatar. We'd much prefer to keep data on-server as much as possible, instead of relying on third parties. We actually switched away from Gravatar in the past to the current model we have now. |

This may be an opportunity to get rid of some profile picture space on servers and stuff, to use Gravatar as an option to streamline the profile information. Preferably by optionally linking your Gravatar account to the Revolt account or, better yet, adding an opt-in checkbox to automatically draw the profile information from Gravatar (which would of course disable making changes inside the app) via the account e-mail address.
Since Gravatar is an open source platform specifically designed to hold account information (and to update everything in one place and not having to bother with searching every platform where one has an outdated profile picture and/or info), this could be an opportunity to simplify the process.
Thank you for taking the time reading through this post!
