osm scout map doesn't seem to contain the latest data from OSM

i have contributed a few places of interest to osm, but they don't appear to be pulled in osm scout
i have tested this by using online mode and offline mode in pure maps. in online mode i can find the locations, while in offline mode i cannot

examples include:

Thanks, @rinigus - I can give this a go. I have tons of space, but limited [16GB] RAM. Any recommendation regarding importing region by region or planet? (or whether I can do it at all with the RAM limitation)
If region by region is the answer, are we talking about the few ones that are in the hierarchy directory? -> n/m, I figured that each region is a hierarchy until I stumble into a poly file (with exceptions like Barcelona)

For routing, we have to import whole planet. Otherwise, routing will not work between regions. As for testing, it should be possible to import smaller regions.

Note that 16GB may not work. Also storage is very much recommended to be NVME. HDD is going to be very slow.

Thanks, @rinigus - I could try with another system that has 32GB RAM and an SSD, I'll report back if it isn't doable as I won't be able to buy more kit just now.

I have something over here, but its kind of combined via several servers. Surely not optimal solution. Let's see when I will get there with the imports.

I had to add some smithmicro repositories and the postgres one - I suppose this will wildly depend on the distro one is using.

[planetiler] | Caused by: java.nio.file.AccessDeniedException: /data/tmp -> I'm having some issues with rootless containers here, so chmod 777 saved the day

I tried to leave the variable PLANETILER_STORAGE_TMP to the default mmap value and also tried a directory where my user can write, both with the same result. -> I kept this in mmap

@rinigus thank you for your help so far, let me know if it's easier to chat in IRC or elsewhere about the above.
I'll try to debug, but thought I'd share my progress.

It's also worth noting that I'm using podman, in case that's not the right approach. -> podman won't work as of date of writing this comment since it doesn't support compose conditions properly because containers/podman-compose#575

Two other things I found:

1. I don't think that valhalla likes being run with --user in rootless mode (I'm guessing that this method was tried with normal docker)
2. If area=great-britain, then planetiler saves great_britain.osm.pbf, which is annoying because valhalla_prepare expects great-britain.osm.pbf... annoying but should be an easy fix in the ln -s command
