use without docker?

i just saw some nice feedback by melpazoid in my melpa PR. I was wondering if it's possible to use it locally without docker? e.g. just with cask, which (i thought) calls a clean emacs.

docker makes sense for the production line of packages with melpa, but as an individual tinkerer it feels like overkill to me.

I’m also interested in this issue because I’m working on integrating the tool with Eask. Right now, you can run:

eask install-deps  # Install dependencies locally.
eask test melpazoid  # Use melpazoid for testing

and some tests will execute, but the output doesn’t match what I usually see in MELPA PR reviews. 🤔

Yes I agree.

I think melpazoid "the system" will rely on docker or podman for the foreseeable future, just because it's the simplest way for me to simulate installing a package in a brand new environment.

But I can interpret the desire here to be able to run other melpazoid components (like a lot of the stuff in melpazoid.el) independently of Docker, and probably independently of the other checks (right now you can run M-x melpazoid on a buffer, but that command will also run a byte-compile, a checkdoc, etc.)
