Display more fields in drop-down in 100/700

Suggestion to add professions from People 550 or places from 551 to the drop-down menu in 100/700. This would help the catalogers choose the right name. (Some catalogers just choose the first name they see, or click on the wrong name, or don't spot the difference between similar life dates).

Someone shaky with their dates might be glad to see "Wien" with the first name and "Dresden" with the second.

Maybe there needs to be a different mechanism for matching.

In Django, when you add a related field like this, you have a little window that pops up and lets you search all the authorities. Once you find the one you want you click a button and the window disappears, but it fills in the related record ID.

So maybe instead of just a simple dropdown there needs to be a more comprehensive matched available.

Oh, and the 550 should be changed to 372 when that has been changed.

you can activate in on any search field, and we can customize what is shown. For things like 773 you don't even have the autocomplete, only the popup

If I understand correctly, most of the concerns here are about preventing people from making new person authorities unless they absolutely have to, so rather than try to cram a lot of info into the dropdown, maybe having a more precise way of choosing the people is helpful?

Equally trying to prevent errors in selection. Some catalogers match to the closest name they see, without clicking through to see if it is the correct person. Alexander probably has examples of this. A radical idea would be to get rid of the drop-down altogether.

Yeah, that’s what I’m suggesting. Get rid of the dropdown in favour of adding a more comprehensive selection mechanism
