Windows setup issues

This discussion shall help people with problems setting up Atrium on Windows. If you encounter some as well, feel free to post here as well or create a new discussion.

Apparently, there can be issues when trying to build Atrium on Windows (see #1364 (comment))

• ./gradlew build fails with 19 failed tests (in the area of symlink)
• cannot run tests inside intellij

Recommendation:

• Setup Atrium within WSL
• Make sure you have installed jdk 11
• Make sure intellij recognises the installed jdk => CTRL + ALT + SHIT + S => under project -> SDK

@WesleyJammer are you running inside WSL by now? if so you can execute the following:

sudo apt-get install -y openjdk-11-jdk openjdk-11-source

@robstoll not yet, but i already have java 11 installed. i needed it for building gradlew in the first place. Only when trying to run a test it doesnt reconize java 11 anymore, so i dont know if i install java 11 again it will fix the problem. but i will sure look into wsl if it makes it alot easier.

looking at the error message in the other issue. do you execute tests via gradle? Could you try via intellij run gutter?
In any case, I would switch to WSL, I guess you won't have such issue then.

i tried to run a test in intelij, just by pressing the play button in the CreateReportTest class

Can you check if you see the installed JDK in the project settings (CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + S).

@robstoll that was the problem. now the existing tests do work and they all suceeded. i will now continue my work on #1364. i will create a new feature based on feature/proof-based-reporter

Perfect, you are not on WSL right? Good to know if that this works as well.
