Support for shutter modules?

Hey,

I flashed all of my Avatto switch modules with this custom Tuya firmware and I love it. My original workaround for the missing detached mode was using 2-channel switch modules: one channel for the switch and the other for the load, but this is much better with a proper firmware.

I also have some Girier curtain/shutter modules, and it looks quite doable to adapt this firmware to support them as well, since they use the same Tuya ZTU modules.

I understand that this is the tuya-zigbee-switch repository, but I wanted to ask whether a contribution like this would be welcome. I am not sure if binding or detached mode would make sense for shutter modules, but I would be happy to add a few other features that these modules are currently missing.

I'd say any contribution is more than welcome.
As I just said here, we want to expand the firmware to remotes, sockets, dimmers:

So don't take the project name literally. 😅
Romasku already broke the Tuya barrier, and soon switch will become outdated too.
The firmware should be easily adaptable for other devices, as you see we already have the config string to work with.

Please open an issue with your specific module and provide some pictures with the board.

Also I'm interested why custom firmware is needed for shutter modules. I don't have any yet.

Great, thank you! I’m much more excited to create a shutter solution in this repository than to create a fork.
I’m going to take a look at #251 as well, I might be able to help there.

About the changes I’d like to make compared to the Girier firmwares:

• The roller shutters I know and have used have significant dead zones at the upper and lower ends of travel. For example, my roller shutters take around 20 seconds to go from one end position to the other, but for the first 3-4 seconds there is no visible movement. Then they start moving, and after they are fully closed, the motor can still be heard running for a few more seconds. These two dead zones mess up position calculation. If I set the roller shutter from 0% to 10%, I hear the motor running for 2 seconds, but the shutter does not actually move at all. When setting a specific position, I often do not have an intuitive understanding of what percentage corresponds to the desired position. A better firmware would allow calibration of these two dead zones so the position value better matches the actual roller blind position.
• I have Velan Life Roller blind push-buttons. These have a stop button in the middle that effectively closes both direction switches at the same time. A better firmware would interpret simultaneous switch presses as a stop command.
• My 1-gang and 2-gang Girier shutter modules behave inconsistently. One can be stopped by momentarily pressing the opposite direction, while the other actually starts moving the motor in the opposite direction. One can be controlled by holding down the button, so it only moves while the button is pressed, while the other does not support this. A better firmware would be more consistent and would allow these behaviors to be configured to match the home owner’s preference.

I believe that adding these features could easily make this custom Tuya firmware a superior shutter firmware.

I’m going to try building and deploying a simple switch firmware on my Girier shutter module to identify all relay and switch pins, and then I’ll open the issue.

Also note that Z2M exposes page doesn't always indicate the capabilities of the device.

The original firmware might have calibration (and more features), without Z2M knowing - thus not showing it to you.
Expose it with a custom converter and try if it works.

Right. It doesn’t seem to have any unmapped capabilities, and basic calibration is already available, so I don’t think there’s anything more it can provide. As far as I know, none of the existing zigbee2mqtt shutter devices offer the features I described above. I previously worked with a local smart home product development company, and their wired shutter modules had these features. That’s essentially what I plan to recreate.

I can also provide a demonstration video if that would make the use case clearer.

By the way, I successfully flashed the device and mapped its pins. I’m going to create the issue.
