How to make template take up more than one column

If my collection has more than one column how do I make the dummy header template item take up more than one space?
I would ideally not have a header in the collection but I want it to scroll off and I believe I took this example from your sample IIRC

Attached is what I mean
I want the red cell to take up the space in blue

Heres my current code

yes I would like to request this feature too since header and footer technically is not available in grid layout. please help if there is a workaround.
