Restart of Docker Container not reliable

I sometimes still experience crashes of the docker comfospott docker container.
In most cases I can trace this to situations I played around with the ioBroker - so the MQTT broker was possibly down.
This would not be an issue if the crashed container would restart reliably. But once in a while I have a stopped container despite the "always" policy for restart.

Any Ideas?

I could imagine: Restart is pretty fast and the issue is persisting for a minute or so - docker is stopping restarts to prevent a restart loop.

Any solutions to make the system more reliable?

Hmm, personally I use podman+systemd services to manage my containers.
You could do something similar systemd+podman: so using systemd to restart the container instead of having docker do that.

I figured out the reason. It is an interference on the bus which happens when somebody rings the door bell :-/ When the kids ring the bell like 5 times it might happen that the container restarts a lot and at a certain stage is blocked due to "restart loop". In hindsight this perfectly makes sense as this happened only a few times per year.
I will now work on proper shielding of the cables which was not on my agenda. Additionally, if this is an easy fix, it would probably make the code more stable if weird signals on the bus would not lead to a crash :-).

ooh, that's an interesting case! That must be quite some interference, since RS485 should be quite resilient to that.

No promises to make it more crash resistant, but if you can share some of the backtraces when it crashes, that would help to at least know where to look. (since for me the thing is rock solid)
