Remove Website/Application Whitelisting to Support Decentralisation #6

Description

Problem Description

Currently, Xell maintains a whitelist of approved websites and applications allowed to interact with the extension.
If a new dApp or website needs to invoke Xell, it must first be manually added to this whitelist.

This approach introduces two major issues:

  • Centralization – Control over which platforms can use Xell rests with a central authority.
  • Limited Development Flexibility – Local applications and test environments cannot easily integrate with Xell without being added to the whitelist.

These limitations conflict with the core principle of decentralization and hinder the developer experience.

Proposed Solution

  • Remove the whitelist requirement for websites and applications.
  • Allow any website or application to interact with Xell, without prior approval from a central authority.

Expected Benefits

  • Enhanced decentralization – No single entity controls which platforms can use Xell.
  • Improved developer experience – Local applications and test environments can integrate with Xell without additional approval steps.
  • Better ecosystem growth – Encourages broader adoption and experimentation by dApp developers.
