No way to uninstall the dev version of RubyGems

Steps:

1. clone the rubygems repo
2. run ruby setup.rb to install, now it has shown as default gem for bundler
3. no way to uninstall it; if install another and --default option there will be two defaults

Occurs both on Windows and Linux.

Even if --default is broken and we should deprecate it, I still it's a reasonable concern that ruby setup.rb cannot be undone. @soda92 I normally "revert" ruby setup.rb by using gem update --system <previous-rubygems-version>. Does that work for you on Windows?

Sorry, it's a bit confusing but RubyGems version (gem -v) in this case would be 3.5.22 (Bundler version is one major behind).

Great! that works now. Do you have solution for linux? I tried to reinstall ruby through apt but it didn't help

On Linux, gem -v gives you 3.6.0.dev, correct? What does ruby -e 'puts $LOADED_FEATURES.find { |f| f.end_with?("rubygems.rb") }' gives you? Whatever file it's printed, it should not be part of the rubygems apt package, is that correct? (you could check with dpkg -L)

Yeah I find it located in /usr/local/lib. I will try remove that directory

You still need to remove the default gemspec installed by ruby setup.rb. You're looking for a file named bundler-2.6.0.dev.gemspec, probably under Gem.default_specifications_dir.

I think we should probably add a patch to ruby setup.rb to make it respect Gem.disable_system_update_message, i.e., if that's set, show the message and abort the upgrade, just like gem update --system does.

And add some note to documentation about using a version manager rather than an OS packaged version of Ruby for developing RubyGems.
