Podman Rootless Image Build Failing

I am very interested in the Podman rootless containerized option for the bakery. I want to ideally use it for CI/CD gitlab builds and system testing of images for automating release process of firmware updates. However, now using podman, the bakery cannot finish writing the system info and I get this error:

 INFO packing system files
 INFO layer is newer than system
Error: unable to write system info
├╴at crates/apps/rugix-bakery/src/oven/system.rs:78:6

╰─▶ Permission denied (os error 13)

I have pulled the latest run-bakery script and now am using v0.9.1 of the rugix-bakery. My .rugix/ cache was clean when building. Any ideas for how to get this working with Podman and rootless environments?
