Snap area and snap panel stopped working

After the upgrade to the newest macOS, they stopped showing up. Sometimes I can see time, but very rarely. Usually, the app is just no longer working.

Sometimes after a macOS upgrade, the accessibility permissions can get out of sync and cause issues like this. You'll want to try this first:

1. Quit Rectangle Pro
2. In System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Accessibility, first disable Rectangle Pro, then remove it with the minus button.
3. Reboot
4. Launch Rectangle Pro and enable settings for it as prompted.

Beyond that, it's possible for other applications with accessibility permissions can interfere with the macOS click functionality that Rectangle Pro relies on. To narrow it down, check if any new applications were installed at the same time as the upgrade, or quit applications one by one.

Thanks, but nothing helped really. I had no new applications installed since the time of macOS upgrade (or around it), I still disabled all but Rectangle in Accessibility, quit all that were running, killed even some background apps and still the same. Only Throw Window is working.

Small update, after restarting the computer, the permissions in Accessibility are lost for Rectangle Pro, even if applied again.

On permissions being lost, that would point to some further Accessibility weirdness in macOS. One more thing to try is to reset them directly using tccutil in Terminal:

killall Rectangle\ Pro
tccutil reset All com.knollsoft.Hookshot
open -a Rectangle\ Pro

I would expect that to at least solve the problem of Accessibility Permissions being lost on reboot, but would be surprised if that fixed the issue, though. What do the logs show? Hold the option key in the Rectangle Pro menu bar menu and select View Logging, then reproduce it not working.

Thanks, the permissions are now not lost it seems, but the main issue stays the same. Here are the logs:

Thanks! Despite that you've quit all other apps that have accessibility permissions, this still somehow points to some sort of interference external to Rectangle Pro. Would you mind sending me your configuration? Export it from the General tab of the Settings window.

Would you mind trying this Terminal command and let me know if it changes anything?

defaults write com.knollsoft.Hookshot obtainWindowOnClick -int 2

Restart Rectangle Pro after executing that Terminal command.

Didn't help me. The strange thing about this bug, it works for MS Teams window but not for MacOS windows.

Let's disable that last default with this command:

defaults delete com.knollsoft.Hookshot obtainWindowOnClick

Then execute this command, and restart the app:

defaults write com.knollsoft.Hookshot systemWideMouseDown -int 1

@amirk63 If you still have an issue after that, what do the logs show for you? Hold the option key in the Rectangle Pro menu bar menu and select View Logging, then reproduce it not working.

I'm experiencing the same thing on Rectangle Pro 3.65.4 (210) and macOS Tahoe 26.2. Executed the commands below and restarted. It's working now, but it usually does for a little bit after a reboot. I'll report back if it continues.
