Symbols font fan inconsistent size

Experienced Behavior

fan icon f146e is smaller than f146f and f0210. I don't know if it's intentional, but those symbols next to each other look bad. It was observed in symbols nerd font mono variant.

The mono variant scales icons down to 'one cell size', but - as that is really tiny - maximizes the icon in the cell (i.e. that there is no 'whitespace' left and right. If the 'fill' of the cell differs the resulting size differs too.

Well, lets see how the non-Mono variant looks like:

You might notice, in the non-Mono font the size is identical, but the vertical alignment is not; each icon is vertically centered, but the center of fan-plus is lower, so it is moved up more.

The Mono font scales the icons to be maximized in the 'cell', which each icon is different. But that is how you get the biggest possible icon.

For 'sets' of icons where one icon has a relation to another icon we can define 'scale sets'. All icons in such a set are scaled and shifted identically, to get a consistent experience.
But that is a manual process, someone must sit there and edit a file with groups of icons that should be scaled alike.

While this has been done for a lot (or rather: for some) groups in the other icon sets, there is not a single group defined for Material Design. The reason is the sheer number of icons and groups that someone would need to come up with.

I believe I wrote something about the non-existing groups, but can not find right now 🤔

I guess, it went along the lines: There are so many potential groups, who the heck should maintain them.
