SPFx v1.22.0

I'm curious about what happens with SPFx v1.22.0 (GA soon). Since it uses heft instead of gulp, I don't think fast-serve will work. The new tool chain rebuilds very fast, so modifying fast-serve might not be needed, but I miss the automatic refresh.

We greatly miss fast serve as well with 1.22 and didnt really have plans to migrate until we sorted this out. It turned out to not be too dramatic: Our heft implementation of hot module reload documented here: https://github.com/Vinetau/spfx-heft-webpack-patches

first of all sorry for the late reply here. I'm a bit lost in this big changing world of AI (and not only AI) and don't know what to do next. Thus lost motivation and vision for a bit.

But to the topic - I guess you all tried SPFx 1.22 and you know that it's finally fast when it comes to incremental builds (with auto reload as well). That's why I don't think it makes sense for fast-serve with 1.22. If there are any gaps or missing features, it can be implemented with extensibility in SPFx 1.22. Worth to mention that the core of SPFx build pipeline was changed drastically, it took me half a year to produce a stable version of fast-serve for pre-1.22, and seems with 1.22 it's just too complicated.

Its a bit off-topic, but I feel you a lot on the big changing world of AI and other things.
There are days where I don't really enjoy just chatting to a Chatbot all day and wonder if theres more to life than this.
