According to Pikaday's project page, the project is no longer being maintained. That should be mentioned here: https://daisyui.com/components/calendar/

As I understand it wasn't updated for years, so I don't see what has changed.

Nothing changed for the existing versions but that it would be risky to use now that it's officially out of development.
