Generation canceled with manual higher resolution, UV / baking related issues

been getting this message since yesterday
It's had been working fine for a while right after the installation so not sure what happened

i think it was related to whether or not a preset was applied ...things seem to be working.

back to the same character questions from yesterday if I dont bake this is what I see generated... upperbody almost look but pants not so much..also the back is quite poor although camera coverage is just like the front

Char has a bunch of UV tiles and for this example I did merge the various geometries to be just one.

If I do bake the only think I see baked is the skin (head UV tile) the rest is black

PErhaps I should let the geos to be separated?

I'd suggest manually checking the generated images. Maybe the camera doesn't cover the model fully?

As for the baking problem, it is most probably because there are overlaps within the UV mapping. You will need to unwrap so there are no overlaps left. That is a problem with Blender's baking process (which I'm using) and which I wasn't able to solve, hence the bypass via unwrapping.

hmm that would be weird as we make sure there is no UVs overlapping but I will double check,

also about the resolution question from yesterday. I did try to disable the automatic rescale and set a new output resolution (say 1280 px)

By overlap I mean that more than one point on the model is getting mapped to a point in the UV mapping. You can check by doing 'select overlap' in the UV editing mode. Overlaps will get selected in orange.

The error with the higher resolution is a bug indeed. It is an forgotten artifact because before there was a pop up window which would let you choose you still want to generate. It's fixed now and will be working in the next release.

what would be the mesh/UVs character configuration that worked for you ? do you have an example scene?
or have a screenshot of meshes and UV layout that shows how things should be before start generating?
It might make thinks easier to troubleshoot .

Well, I'm not usually doing any UV configuration at all since I don't really need to export the outputs outside of Bledner. So I just use the OSL shader directly. If I need to bake, I usually just do a simple smart uv project or lightmap pack.

gotcha. well havent had a great deal of success with baking. not sure whats going on...
even with the anime head girl you used I tried to bake as you said with various UV generation (since the meshes in that file dont have uvs at all) and the bake is all messy

You need to enable unwrapping for meshes without UVs. I generally use Smart UV Project, but Lightmap Pack sometimes works even better.
