What kind of release cadence would we like? Personally, I'm a fan of automating as much of the release process as possible, and releasing early and often. Especially for the first 6 months, I expect that releasing several times per month would be a good approach. Frequent updates will allow us to rapidly release bugfixes and features as we move to comprehensive vSphere coverage.
While it's possible that in the future we should consider long-term support (LTS) releases, for the first few months, rapid releases should be a good thing. If we need to align specific bundles for vRA releases, rapid releases shouldn't prohibit that -- and anyone who wants more frequent updates will have those available.
A more continuous delivery model of releasing is what I'm a fan of.
Another approach to this that we could take is by doing continuous "pre-release" (or RC) versions - when uploading to pypi they won't get upgraded to by default, so those who want the more actively developed versions could get the pre-release channel, and we could cut other official releases at a different cadence.
Thoughts?
