I agree, and this has come up in conversation before, I think that we need this. We are starting to close off 1.0.0 features and re-evaluating out isses, I am going to put this on 2.0.0 (which just means "after 1.0.0"), although it will of course be accepted sooner if we get a pull req! |

Just getting back to this, the commit #1320 as mentioned by @SEJeff makes it possible to add this via modules. However I did not find a way to add this in a state with cron.present - am I missing something or is this simply not supported in states at the moment? |

@j0nes2k As far as I can tell you are right; it's not available via states. |

Looking through old issues and found this one. You could use env_present to ensure MAILTO is set in the user's crontab. |

It would still be nice to have this in the state module properly, instead of needing env_present |

How do you configure this for system-wide cron jobs? |

Just ran into the need for this. Adding my vote (and making a comment to avoid letting it get stale again) |

crontab allows to include a MAILTO command to control who should get the STDOUT or STDERR from the commands run in cron. The syntax in the crontab file is:
MAILTO="mail@domain.com"
or
MAILTO=""
(if you want to disable output from cron mails).
It would be great to have the possibility to add this command via the cron state and module
