[Bug]: Shizuku permission issues (Root and Play Store installs)

Bug Description

Enabled shizuku using root and authorized the app in shizuku settings. when i request shizuku permission by clicking the button in the essentials app, nothing happens

Steps to Reproduce

tap on maps power saving mode toggle
tap on grant permission (shizuku)

Expected Behavior

The toggle ro get enabled

I also had such a problem.

Disable the root app superuser permission. E.g. Magisk. Pair the shizuku with the pairing code.
In this configuration, it works.

Same issue as well. Pixel 8 Pro Android 16 QPR3 beta 1.1
Can't grant Shizuku permissions from whithin Essentials app, even after enabling it manually in Shizuku app.

Hi Guys, I can't be sure on the issue as I don't have much info on what is failing, but I think one thing could help resolving, The play store version of Shizuku is outdated and it started going crazy since Android 16 QPR or so, So if you are coming from HowToMen video, try with the Shizuku fork which was featured in that same video. I personally use this: yangFenTuoZi/Shizuku which was updated to counter this issue.

Also I have heard bad things with OneUI breaking Shizuku often too so that might be a reason as well, For Pixel users, I can for sure say the Play Store version is outdated and will probably not work.

Can someone try with a fork and let me know and if possible with any logs from logcat or so if possible? Also try manually granting but in this case, you can either grant from the Shizuku app itself or from Essentials app's app info > permissions > additional permissions > Shizuku. Also make sure Shizuku is running (Which I can see in the screenshots) but in those recent issues, Shizuku may start but just as we switch to another app, it used to stop functioning properly.

I am not sure if ADB vs Rooted Shizuku got much of a difference as I am no longer rooted but I do remember there's being a lot of differences.

I am not sure if ADB vs Rooted Shizuku got much of a difference as I am no longer rooted but I do remember there's being a lot of differences.

Yep, The issue was that I was using Shizuku root mode. After switching to ADB mode, it worked.

Hi! Can I know about your device and also what happens? Like does Shizuku stop after switching apps or permissions never gets granted? Even from the Shizuku app?
