I want to edit in markdown but return portable text to front-end

I already have a blog in another CMS which is in markdown. While I like markdown, I also want to use features of portable text to render the text.

I want to be able to just copy my markdown posts from other CMS and put them into my new project powered by Sanity.

How can I edit my blog in markdown to be converted into portable text?
