Q: Encrypt folders instead of individual files?

Is this a better way of doing it---encrypt the folders instead of individual files?

Upsides:

• Less to encrypt/decrypt
• when decrypted, everything is available

Downsides

• folder size could get quite large (some git providers may not allow uploading large files)
• everything is visible when decrypted, so could be a security issue

Q: is encrypting/decrypting individual files costing us enough to merit this optimisation?
