I have tried some of the new Matter devices (PIR sensor, Dual key, temperature sensor, and scroll key), and the latest events are not supported.

Don't you mean Thread devices? The 'old' Zigbee devices also support the current Matter integration.

It is the new Thread devices that Ikea has launched. But I have not been able to conclude if it is your integration or the IKEA stuff that is not working as expected. I have tried several things, and it also seems to be the Matter devices that are not very stable with the IKEA hub.

BILRESA Scroll Wheel (E2490) Investigation Results

I've done a deep investigation into the BILRESA scroll wheel (genericSwitch) to understand why action events aren't available. Here's what I found:

Device Structure

The BILRESA scroll wheel appears in the Dirigera API as 3 sub-devices:

• type: "controller", deviceType: "genericSwitch"
• IDs ending in _3, _6, _9 (representing switchGroups 1, 2, 3)
• Each has batteryPercentage in attributes

What Works

Device discovery - all 3 sub-devices are found by get_controllers()
Battery sensors - appear correctly in Home Assistant after HA restart
Device info (model, customName, isReachable)

What Doesn't Work

Action events (scroll/click) are NOT available through the Dirigera API

Technical Findings

1. canSend: [] is empty - The capabilities array has no press events, so the scene mechanism (used by shortcutController remotes) cannot work

2. No WebSocket events - Monitoring the Dirigera WebSocket shows zero genericSwitch events when using the scroll wheel. The hub simply doesn't emit them.

3. genericSwitch not in event processing - Even if we added it to process_events_from, there are no events to process

4. Matter protocol limitation - BILRESA uses Thread/Matter. The Dirigera hub acts as Matter controller but doesn't expose action events through its REST/WebSocket API.

Comparison with Native Matter Integration

When BILRESA is connected directly to Home Assistant via native Matter integration (not through Dirigera):

• Scroll wheel events work (mapped to 9 button events across 3 layers)
• Has limitations (max 8 clicks per interaction, not true continuous scroll)

Conclusion

This is a Dirigera API limitation, not something that can be fixed in the integration. The Dirigera hub simply doesn't expose Matter device action events through its API - it only provides state information (battery level, reachability).

Workaround for Users

If you need scroll wheel events from BILRESA:

1. Don't pair it with the Dirigera hub
2. Connect it directly to Home Assistant via Matter (requires a Thread Border Router like HomePod Mini or Google Nest Hub)
3. Use native Matter integration + community blueprints

Important clarification: The findings above are specifically about the BILRESA scroll wheel (E2490) which uses deviceType: "genericSwitch".

This is a different product from the BILRESA dual button (E2442) which uses deviceType: "lightController" and sends remotePressEvent messages. The dual button is now supported via PR #186.
