Volume reduced & lots of background noise

Hi Wolle,

Volume reduced & lots of background noise on this latest v3.4.4q. Previously using v3.4.4j was ok.
My setup is as below here.

Hardware:
Mcu: ESP32-S3-N16R8 DevKitC-1
Audio Board: PCM 5102A

Compile with:-
OS: Windows 11
Arduino IDE: v2.3.7
ESP32 Board Manager: v3.3.7
esptool (compiler): v5.1.0
Audio.h: v3.4.4q

Most of the stream now return VUlevel() value close to 255 what looks strange. @schreibfaul1 what happens that now VU get such max value ?

Volume seems to be reduced (lower) after the latest 3.4.4 updates

I thing that volume was not reduced but it has more logarithmic response now.

Yes, that's right. Previously, the volume curve resembled a quadratic function.
Now it is logarithmic, as is often used in audio applications.
The curve is flatter at the beginning.

Is there a way to choose logarithmic / linear volume curve?
I found that the linear works better with touch screens.
