I can not install libprotoident

I try several times to install but i can not,

1. clone the project
2. install Swig lib
3. in this step i do many things, make don't work, ./configure the same, don't work.

How can i install it?? please help

It's been 4 years, so my memory may be fuzzy. I had the same question from a student at the Pakistan National University a year ago and this is what I responded:

I did not write libprotoident, it is from WAND in New Zealand: 
http://research.wand.net.nz/software/libprotoident.php

I never really bothered to updated the instructions - anything after 
“libprotoident 2.0.6” in the Readme is directly from the libprotoident 
Readme from WAND. Anything in the initial commit was from the 
WAND packages. 

What I did was strip it down so that I could use swig to use some of
 the functionality from within Python. If you are trying to use libprotoident
 in C, you should use the WAND version. If you wish to use the 
functionality in Python, keep reading.

If you go to the lib/ subdirectory, you can see that the .i file for swig.

you can see how to actually use it in your code (in particular:
