[BUG] Right click context menus appear as black boxes (non interactive)

Description

The right click context menus are black boxes.
No entries appear and they don't appear to be interactable with. I have tried clicking on areas but nothing happens so they do not appear to be invisible.

Thank you for all the work on this project, it is amazingly helpful. I am happy to help gather additional information if anyone can tell me what you need.

Steps to reproduce

1. Follow guides exactly.
2. Open Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo or Affinity Publisher
3. Create a new document.
4. Right click anywhere a black box will appear instead of the right-click context menu.

Expected behaviour

The right click context menus should appear populated.

Hey there Brokenshield, I was looking into this a bit and I am not super clear on how to recreate this issue. Have you tried to reinstall by any chance? I also would suggest the RUM guide as well as it has produced different results sometimes.

Hi, Just wanted to pop in and say I am having similar issues on a similar system:

• EndeavourOS
• KDE Plasma 6.4.5 under Wayland
• Lutris
• NVIDIA RTX 3090

The issues only arise when using DXVK, when disabled, the context menus work fine however the canvas flickers a lot and makes the app pretty painful to use.

I have not yet tested on rum as suggested, going to take a peek at that shortly and will update.

So, I tried turning off DXVK (Vulcan is on) and Affinity Designer menus now appear and it seems to all work perfectly. I'll try it with the others (though Designer is my main tool for now)

I'm experiencing the same issues as well. The splash screen is black and right click menus come up black. With DXVK disabled the windows flicker whenever new windows or popups are drawn or hidden.

It seems the common theme so far is Arch based distros with KDE.

as a workaround the following (with winetricks renderer=gl) seems to be helping in my case. probably not a good solution though

edit: switching from Wine 10.17 (as recommended in the terminal guide) to ElementalWarrior's Wine with renderer=vulkan seems to work for me as well, without any extra workarounds

Gnome Desktop 49.0 Wayland
Bottles + ElementalWarrior Wine Prefix

Unfortunately, I could not test with DXVK off, since it somehow causes a memory overload on my device when trying to run Affinity. I believe that this may be more of a Bottles problem, so I'll try out other DXVKs or Lutris soon.

Same case here. Using Arch Linux, Bottles + ElementalWarrior, and I have AMD Ryzen™ 7 8840HS w/ Radeon™ 780M Graphics, which shouldn't generally cause issues like with nvidia.
