Enable json format in Start9 OS

Hi guys, I've been battling this for a day and would deeply appreciate your input. I installed SearXNG on Start9 and since I never found an option to add json so I can query it through api, I started to dig into the container, and in /etc/searxng/settings.yml file, added:
search:
formats:

• html
• json
  Restarting the service resets the changes and not restarting it does nothing.
  Could you help me figure this out?

May option public_instance and/or limiter is activated.
