Listen to available ports

is it possible to listen to available ports so that I can list them immediately in the UI?

Do you mean listen in the sense of listing/enumerating available ports? This can be done with serialport::available_ports.

In case you want to listen to the data on the wire on the available ports, you have to open and read from them as well. Beware than on macOS ports show up two times as /dev/tty.X and /dev/cu.X and you have to go for one variant or the other.

No I meant listening to actual USB Port connections. My usecase is to list the available ports but currently I have to add a "Refresh" button next to it and require user to click on it, if they want to get the new connected ports. however, it would be better to get them automatically whenever they are available.

my current solution was to invoke serialport::available_ports every 100ms and update the UI list. but that prevents me to open a port and I think it's because it disconnects opened ports (at least this is what tauri-plugin-serialplugin logs)
