Current Behavior

The app hangs on startup. Have uninstalled and reinstalled, cleared cache/data, but it never does anything. (Have gotten the occasional message from Android that the Session app is not responding, but usually don't even get that; it just sits there not loading.)

Expected Behavior

Given that I've uninstalled and reinstalled, it should bring me to a screen where I can enter the ID/recovery phase to log in.

Steps To Reproduce

Open the Android app on Chromebook

Android Version

Android 13 / ChromeOS 138

Session Version

Latest version on Play store as of Jul 27, 2025

Anything else?

Was working Friday morning, stopped working Friday afternoon. That's when I started uninstalling/reinstalling and trying all of the other steps people suggest when the app hangs.

Update that I can install the Linux subsystem for Chrome, install the Linux version of Session, and it works. So it's just trying to run it in Chromebook's Android implementation that's a problem...

Hello, I'm having a similar issue since v1.27.0 update.
In my case the app opens for less than a second and then closes/crashes.
As Tyib did, I also tried clearing cache, data, uninstalling and reinstalling the app with no success.
Then I tried removing v1.27 and installing older versions of the app and it's now working on v1.24.2 (v1.26.0 didn't work either).

Yeah, I also had the issue with the Oxen Unoffical build but the main one from the play store works fine.

Same issue on GrapheneOS with official Session F-Droid version. Crashes right on launch since the latest update.

Yes. It's sadly still persistant, on multiple of my devices, and not just on GrapheneOS.
All of them with Android 16, if that matters.

If you could provide crash logs this would be helpful as we can not reproduce any issues on our end.
