Backups

We're running a pretty outdated Vault version and want to get current.  My concern is what happens when Vault upgrades - what happens if it breaks the data store?  Do we just take a backup of the vault Cloud Storage bucket and roll back in case of failure?   There won't be an issue on a restore with the unseal key / Key Management right - I wouldn't think so.
