Support for CSS Modules / SASS Modules in shadcn/ui (Future Plans or Community Interest?)

Hi everyone,

I’ve been working on a tool that converts shadcn/ui components from Tailwind to CSS Modules (with support for SASS/SCSS) and before I go too deep, I wanted to check in with the community and maintainers.

Motivation:
While Tailwind is great (and obviously core to the project), there are developers who:

• Prefer or are required to use CSS Modules or SASS
• Want the design consistency and DX of shadcn/ui, but can’t use Tailwind due to team/project constraints
• Would benefit from prebuilt components with the same structure, API, and accessibility — just with styles they can manage via standard CSS/SCSS

What I’m Exploring:

• A CLI that lets devs generate shadcn/ui components styled with CSS Modules
• A drop-in alternative for projects that don’t want to install Tailwind or run the official CLI
• Possibly a web app where you can select a component and download a zip with .tsx + .module.css files or copy the CLI command

Questions:

• Has there been any internal discussion about supporting other styling strategies like css-modules, vanilla-extract, etc.?
• Would a PR to allow --style css-module in the CLI be considered in the future?
• Is anyone else already working on or exploring this path?
• Would the maintainers be open to linking out to community tooling like this (e.g. from the README)?

I’d love to hear anyones thoughts and see if this aligns with any roadmap, or if there’s interest from other devs who’ve hit similar styling constraints.
