Title: Cannot sign in to GitHub on ARM64 (Raspberry Pi 5 / Debian 12 Bookworm) — “User interaction failed” during OAuth

Description:

Hi 👋 I’m running GitHub Desktop v3.4.13-linux1 on a Raspberry Pi 5 (ARM64) using Debian 12 Bookworm (fully updated).

Everything installs fine from the .deb package (GitHubDesktop-linux-arm64-3.4.13-linux1.deb), the app launches correctly on the Pi’s desktop, but when I try to sign in with my GitHub account, I always get this error after authorizing in the browser:

Error: user interaction failed

It seems like the OAuth redirect (x-github-client://oauth/...) isn’t handled properly — the browser confirms the authorization, but Desktop never completes the login process.

Environment details:

• Device: Raspberry Pi 5 (16 GB)
• OS: Debian 12 Bookworm (Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit)
• GitHub Desktop: 3.4.13-linux1 (installed from the official ARM64 .deb)
• Browser used for auth: Chromium 129.0
• Install method: .deb via sudo apt install ./GitHubDesktop-linux-arm64-3.4.13-linux1.deb
• Launch method: direct GUI (not SSH/X11)
• Git works fine via CLI (git push, git pull, etc.)

What I’ve tried:

• Reinstalled GitHub Desktop v3.4.13 fresh
• Cleared browser cache and retried OAuth
• Attempted to add token manually (no UI option available on Linux)
• Verified that github-desktop runs correctly otherwise

Expected behavior:
Successful OAuth login with GitHub Desktop (as on macOS/Windows).

Actual behavior:
OAuth flow completes in the browser but returns user interaction failed in the Desktop app.

Question:
Is there any known workaround for ARM64/Linux (e.g., environment variable, custom redirect handler, or manual token entry)?
Would love to help test if a fix is possible — I can provide logs or run a debug build on the Pi if needed.
