Description
Hi! First of all, great work on Rush — especially the LRCLIB integration and overall lyrics UX.
I wanted to suggest a few optional sources that could significantly improve J-pop / C-pop / K-pop coverage, especially for translations and synced lyrics:
-
Mojim (魔鏡歌詞網) – Unsynced lyrics
Great coverage for J-pop and C-pop
Much deeper Japanese catalog than Genius (anime, vocaloid, indie)
Often includes romaji / kana / Chinese translations best for romanji and kana for japanese songs
Best suited as an unsynced fallback -
UtaNet (歌ネット) — Unsynced lyrics one of the largest and most authoritative Japanese lyric databases one of the most trusted and publisher-backed Japanese lyric databases
Extremely strong coverage for mainstream J-pop, anime, OSTs, and older songs
Often used as a reference source for official Japanese lyrics
Best suited as a primary unsynced J-pop source -
Utaten (うたてん) (optional) — Unsynced lyrics
Another large Japanese lyrics site with good coverage of modern J-pop and anime
Complements UtaNet well when one source is missing a song
Useful as a secondary J-pop fallback -
KuGou – Synced lyrics one of the strongest databases for high-quality LRC sync Very good coverage for C-pop, J-pop, and K-pop Often more accurate timing than LRCLIB for Asian tracks
Sometimes provides synced translations as separate files -
Netease Cloud Music (optional fallback) Good balance of synced + translated lyrics
Especially useful when LRCLIB / KuGou have no results strong coverage for Chinese music and Japanese releases
These could follow a similar client-side / optional approach to the existing lyrics sources, if that fits the project.
One possible source order (just an idea):
Synced lyrics:
– LRCLIB
– KuGou
– Netease
Unsynced / translations:
- UtaNet (JP)
- Utaten (JP)
- Mojim (JP / CN)
- Genius (KR / EN)
I think this would really benefit users who listen to a lot of Asian music just sharing this in case it’s useful totally understand if it doesn’t fit the project.
Reference links for context (informational; may be region-restricted):
UtaNet: https://www.uta-net.com
Utaten: https://utaten.com
Mojim: https://mojim.com
Netease Cloud Music: https://music.163.com
KuGou: https://www.kugou.com
UtaNet and Mojim are simple HTML sources and relatively easy to scrape.
NetEase and KuGou don’t offer public APIs but have well-known, community-documented endpoints used by existing lyrics tools, so they could be considered optional or later additions
