Talosctl Slow?

This is probably due to a misconfiguration or something I am missing, but talosctl feels extremely sluggish

Is there something that could be misconfigured with the discovery service or config that would cause this? Or some sort of debug mode for talosctl that I could run to help troubleshoot?

It's hard to say from this description, can be anything from MTU mismatch to bad network link, or some DNS issue (if using hostnames).

You can try to enable gRPC debug logs with https://pkg.go.dev/google.golang.org/grpc/examples/features/debugging#section-readme

ahha, that is useful, probably related to hostnames ultimately.

The nodes don't have their FQDN in cert sans, so endpoints were set to the short names and the cluster subdomain wasn't configured as dns search domain. Given that, I am not entirely sure how it was finding anything at all.....
