Original example contributed by wiki user J3flight. The background for this code came from [confcall.js](./confcall-JS_7144062.mdx#code). Thanks to [Ken Rice](https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/~krice) who wrote that because it gave me a good template to work from.

#### Summary
1913

2014
This code was written to implement a publicly available conferencing system that provided "secure" conference rooms that prevent abuse from outside parties. The security comes from the fact that while the conference room is always available, it's unusable until the owner (a.k.a moderator) enters. The system also pulls its conference information from a database and some extra features were added at the request of the users.

## Lock negotiated codec
1511

In the middle of a call if one side puts the other one on hold a re-invite will occur and a new codec negotiation will happen. There's cases where you need to keep the same codec previously negotiated when the call was answered.

A brief discussion of topics to consider before configuring your new FreeSWITCH installation. If you are going to setup FreeSWITCH it is worth planning ahead before you start. This gives you a better idea of what you want to configure. Later you can then go through and implement the requirements bit by bit until you have a fully working system.

The intention of this page is to come up with a series of 'recipes' which describe how to do various 'standard' tasks in FreeSWITCH. The hope is that enough of a functional description of the process is given, perhaps with examples, so that a new user can setup FreeSWITCH using these recipes as a basis much faster than trying to read all the documentation. FreeSWITCH is complex so there may be many ways to solve these problems, but these descriptions and examples should hopefully provide a good starting point or reference different techniques.

#### Start with an empty configuration

Right now there is no empty configuration. The the best way to create an empty configuration is to clean out the default configuration. Many entries in the default configuration are good so follow the next steps to clean out what is not needed.
