"Creativity comes from applying things you learn in other fields to the field you work in."
-- Aaron Swartz
The Single Source Publishing Community (#SiSoPub) aims to bring together everyone working on Open Access publishing platforms and single source publishing services -- regardless of platform architecture or programming language.
Some of you have probably already found solutions that others are still puzzling with; reuses and collaborations may develop where you potentially wouldn't have expected them. So let us talk.
The kick-off workshop
For the launch of the Single Source Publishing Community we are bringing together practitioners in the field of single source publishing to a digital kick-off workshop on 11.10.2021, 14:00 to 16:30. We - That is the former projects "Modern Publishing" (https://oa-pub.hos.tuhh.de/de/) of Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) and SUB Hamburg (State University Library Hamburg); "SynOA-PUB" (https://www.zbmed.de/forschen/abgeschlossene-projekte/synoa-pub/) of – ZB MED – Information Centre for Life Sciences; and from "ADA" (https://github.com/TIBHannover/ADA-semantic-publishing) of the Open Science Lab, TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology. We are looking forward to pass on our experiences, to share with this new community and to merge into it.
Our goal is a long-term exchange between developers and users of publishing tools and platforms - initiated by this first workshop with:
focus on topics of community needs and building, and priorities for shared interests in Single Source Publishing
Important in all of this: Your needs and interests are the focus.
Workshop agenda
The workshop on 11.10.2021 should offer all participants the opportunity to get to know colleagues from current single source publishing projects in the German-speaking and international area, to learn more about their goals and challenges, and to network. The workshop will also present networking opportunities within the Single Source Publishing Community and identify initial dates and participating projects for the Show & Tell format.
Please prepare short statements for the round of introductions on:
What are you working on?
What technologies do you use?
What have been your biggest successes in (single source) publishing?
What do you currently see as the biggest challenge personally and for the community?
Join in!
We look forward to seeing you on 11 Oct 2021 from 14:00 to 16:30 CEST!
If you are interested, please register informally by 30.09.2021 with an email to [email protected].
In advance of the event we will send more detailed information on how the workshop will be held. The workshop will take place via Zoom and will be conducted in English.
Feel free to forward this invitation to colleagues who might be interested in the workshop and the community.
