An invitation to participate in a workshop for share ideas on translation workflows and ideas in Open Science publishing.

Taking place as part of the following event Open and Inclusive Access to Research (OIAR). Organised between partners in South and North America

The objective of the workshop is to create an outline of key issues in translation systems to aid Open Science communities to better coordinate efforts and put in place connected infrastructures. @mrchristian Great initiative! I could show a workflow that I designed five years ago for translating OER with Crowdin. It still works and is still free of charge for Open Source projects.

CEVOpen is an open research project to build multilingual semantic Atlas of Volatile Phytochemistry as well as a tool kit for others to use. The project uses Text and Data Mining on Open Access literature enable open search and semantification of the scientific literature. CEVOpen is an India, UK, Brazil, Canada founded collaboration.

Recently, as a pilot, one hundred and eighty articles from AfricaArxiv have been translated from French or English into six diverse African languages: isiZulu, Northern Sotho, Yoruba, Hausa, Luganda, and Amharic.

And please all come along, its only an hour long. Hopefully I'll record it too.

Unfortunately we had to take down the website with the HTML part of the book as the content had to be updated and with a lack of financial and human resources that was not possible. I was asking about the Crowdin workflow as a contributor to The Turing Way is talking about improving tranlation on their workflow. @mrchristian There was something going on on Twitter related to translation systems. What about having a workshop with the folks doing it to exchange ideas and experience?

No, that's why I'm mentioning it. It was an idea I had after a workshop yesterday as it seems nearly everyone is failed by the current provision of publishing tools from - the market, government, institutions, event the community - that telling the stories about workflows and the benefits that could be had if things worked better would be a good idea. So we need narrative and story telling. But I though there must be some LOD way of describing a workflow and tools versions used, problems, successes. Like a Software Citation / Workflow LOD / storytelling - slasher fiction | ASAPbio did it a bit for Open Peer Review https://reimaginereview.asapbio.org/

@mrchristian Yesterday I shared the idea of story telling for documentation with the Fab City community in Hamburg. Comes out they are looking for tooling, too. For whatever we plan we could invite them.
