📚 Notable Books — Share Your Finds

This is the Hall of Notable Books.

If you have found a book worth remembering — a page with a recognizable
word, a fragment that almost means something, a book that scored unusually
high on validation, or simply something that stopped you — post it here.

To share a find, include:

Code: the 8-character code from the mark command (e.g. a3f9bc12)
Label: what you called it
Location: Floor, Side, Unit, Shelf, Position if you have it
Page: which page caught your attention
Why: what made you stop
Score: your validation result if you ran one

Others can import your .hell share file via the X command, or — once
the code-jump feature is available — jump directly by entering your
8-character code.

A note on life books: if you believe you have found another soul's life
book — a book that scores unusually high on personal resonance for someone
you know — post it here. Tag them. You may be hastening their release.

The university in Steven Peck's novella formed around exactly this impulse:
the few sentences of coherent text that had been discovered, hoarded, studied,
and celebrated. This is that university.

After two billion cumulative book searches ( roughly a millennium of
real-time searching at human pace) I present the first entries in Hall of Notable Finds.

The headline find is Daydream.hell: an 8-letter,
properly capitalized word. Import it with the X command and you can stand in front of it
yourself. There are other finds hardly worth noting, Handset and overalls,
each appear alongside a word or two of shorter company, but nothing approaching
a phrase, let alone a sentence.

The characters in Peck's novella were, it turns out, extraordinarily lucky
to find what they did as quickly as they did.

To offer something interesting, if not noteworthy, while the search continues, here are the absolute
boundaries of this implementation of the Library, the first line ever written
and the last:

First line (floor 0, book 0, page 1, line 1):

Pure noise, of course. But these two lines bracket everything that has ever
been written, or will be written.

There are some terribly interesting things to be found
amongst the stacks. Somewhere there is a cure for every disease, the solution to every
unsolved problem, and the location of everything you have ever lost.

The search continues. At 10 billion books I may have a phrase. At 100 billion,
perhaps a sentence.
