Remove dependency on github.com/stretchr/testify (#95)

* rewrite assertions using test helpers

* remove unused dependency

* add missing calls to t.Parallel()

* add golangci-lint config from Marat Reymers

* reformat golangci-linter rules

* renamed test helpers to indicate that they are for tests only
