Ways to check which nodes are online?

This is 100% a skill issue but, I can't seem to parse logs and pinging is slow.
Is there a programmatic way, from the lighthouse, to immediately get a list of clients that are connected to the lighthouse?
Something I could hack in lua or other quickly?

I have found this: #545
But I'm not sure how much I like running ssh from Lua to check that.
