When setting default layout for presentation, how do I change the first slide to be a cover slide?

When setting a default layout for the presentation in the frontmatter, i.e.:

defaults:
  layout: center

how do I make my first slide be a cover slide (layout: cover) since the frontmatter affects the first page?

HAH! I figured it out.

So anything you apply to the frontmatter of the first slide that's different from the defaults: section is applied to the first slide if you add it after the defaults: section

defaults:
  layout: default
layout: cover
