There is an error in your declaration of the rinkeby url in your hardhat.config file. I'm guessing you haven't enclosed your url in quotes. There might be other errors too. So if it fails please share your hardhat.config file with us.

Move .env file out of contract folder, into the root folder.
That should solve the problem.

• Move .env outside contracts folder to the root directory
• Then, make sure whether the RINKEBY_RPC_URL inside .env is of a string primitive data type.
